A Family Tradition

Richard, Sarah, Christina and Simone Drake are passionate about serving the best, all-natural frozen pasta. When Richard and Simone Drake opened a gift on their wedding day, they never imagined that it would inspire one of America’s fastest-growing Italian gourmet pasta companies. First selling their pasta to local fine dining restaurants, today, Drake’s pasta is on the tables of some of the nation’s top restaurants, natural foods and supermarket retailers. What sets us apart? Our History

It Began with a Wedding Gift

As many newlyweds do, Rick and Simone Drake would sit for hours talking about their hopes and dreams. One of those dreams was to start a unique food business. Both had family backgrounds with strong food and restaurant influences, so they had a strong support network and a shared love of good food to build on.

 

Ultimately Rick and Simone made the decision to focus on something they previously had done for fun and entertaining friends. Putting to use a pasta machine that was a wedding gift from a special friend, they began to make pasta. They made it for hours and hours and hours.

 

This was in the mid-‘80s when refrigerated pasta was not available in grocery stores. Looking to the future, they experimented over and over, using only high-quality, fresh ingredients with no preservatives. Ultimately their hard work paid off, and the business they had dreamed of – Drake’s Fresh Pasta – was born.

Their recipe for success: a passion for pasta. Outstanding pasta, worthy of rave reviews. They started out making only flat noodles, but quickly the demand for premium filled pastas sent them adventuring into a whole new arena of the pasta business.

 

Now, some 25 years later, with more than 100 products and distribution in more than 40 states, Drake’s has become the pasta of choice for chefs, upscale food markets and discerning home chefs coast to coast.

 

Today, from the company’s state-of-the-art facilities in High Point, NC, Rick and Simone remain closely involved in the day-to-day operations, taking special pride in the company’s ability to achieve national acclaim while maintaining the absolute commitment to excellence that shaped their hopes and dreams from the very beginning.
